More Than a Bike Shop: Remember Your why
There will be days when you don't want to keep going. That's true in endurance sports, in business, in family life, in faith, in just about everything worth building. For me, those days have come more than once since opening Trinity Endurance. When nobody shows up for a ride, when I'm still trying to find the right routes, when the store feels quiet and heavy, and when life outside the shop weighs on me. When that happens, I have to come back to one simple thing. Remember your why.
I've said throughout this series that I felt called to build Trinity Endurance. The bike shop was the starting point. But the why has always been bigger. I believe that people on this side of the Oklahoma City metro want and need a stronger endurance community. Yukon, Mustang, El Reno, West OKC, and the surrounding areas. There are great endurance communities in other parts of the metro that have been established for years. And I want to help build that here too. A place where someone brand new, maybe nervous, can walk in or show up and feel like there's room for them.
That's the why. So, on the days when nobody shows up or when just one or two people do, I try to remember that's not wasted. That's one person who showed up. One person who might have been looking for community. That's where it starts.
If we want an endurance community on this side of the city, someone has to keep showing up long enough to build it. Motivation comes and goes, but your why has to be bigger than your mood that day. I don't want Trinity Endurance to simply be a place where you buy a bike. I want to help build a community where we become stronger together. Where we encourage each other, push each other, and hopefully become better.
That’s what makes this more than just a bike shop.
Made for More Reflection
Whatever you're building or working toward right now, there will probably be a day when you question it. Maybe you're already there.
This week's challenge. Write down your why in one or two sentences. Put it somewhere you'll see it when things get difficult. Because those days will come. And when they do, remember why you started. For us, our why is bigger than bikes. It's people, it's community, and some days, showing up is the win.
You were Made for More.
