The People You Meet Along the Way.

One thing I didn't really think about when I started Trinity Endurance was how many people I would meet along the way. When you start something new, especially something that's supposed to be centered around community, you have to put yourself out there. That's not always easy for me. You have to talk about what you're trying to build before it's even fully built. You have to ask for help. You have to introduce yourself to people you don't know, you have to invite people to things without knowing if anyone will show up. But I'm learning that when you're willing to take those steps, people start showing up in your life that you never could have planned for.

Before we were even really ready to hire a mechanic, we started putting the word out that we'd eventually need that kind of help. Then someone came along. He was young, still had plenty to learn, but what stood out was his ambition. He wanted to learn. He wasn't afraid of a challenge, and he was willing to grow with us. That ended up being exactly what we needed. It reminded me that the right person isn't always the one with the longest resume. Sometimes it's the one who's willing to learn and grow with you.

I've seen that with my own family as well. My daughter had other opportunities, another job she liked, but she chose to get more involved at Trinity Endurance. She's taken on responsibilities and stepped into a role that's helped take some of the load off of me. And at the same time, I'm hoping it gives her practical experience for her own business someday.

My niece joined us during a season that didn't go how she planned as well. But, her being here has helped take a load off and it's given her space as she figures out what's next. Just taking the time to put this blog together makes me realize that I need to really soak in the time we get to spend together. I want to help guide here and ask questions to get her thinking and take responsibility for her own future. I believe more people need guidance, mentors and a community that wants to see others thrive!

Then there are the people that you only get to meet because you step out and try something new. We've connected with coaches and leaders in the area who also want to build something bigger, like group rides and training opportunities. You just never know whose path you'll cross until you get moving. And sometimes the impact surprises even me. I think back to those community runs we did a few months ago. I stood up and prayed in front of a group of strangers. That's something I wouldn't have done before. It stretched me, but it also showed me what can happen when you're willing to be uncomfortable. I think that's part of how God works in this too. Sometimes he just shows you the next step and the the people you need for the season show up along the way. You don't always know who they will be when you start. You just have to take that first step and then the next.

Made for More Reflection.

If you think about your own journey, whether that's work, family, faith, or something else, who has God placed in your life that you didn't expect? And just as importantly, whose path has he put you on?

Because sometimes the community you're hoping to build isn't just for others. It's also for you
