Why We Started Trinity Endurance

If you've ever wondered why Trinity Endurance exists, it really starts long before there was a bike shop.

As a kid, I loved being outside. If it involved movement, I wanted to do it. Riding bikes, dirt bikes, skateboarding, swimming, climbing mountains, playing sports—you name it. I wasn't just interested in trying things; I wanted to give everything I had.

That passion never went away.

As I got older, it evolved into endurance sports. Cycling became more than just riding around the neighborhood. Running became more than exercise. Eventually, I found myself asking a question that would change my life:

"What's the hardest thing I can commit to?"

The answer was an Ironman.

I'd never done one before, but instead of easing into it, I did what I've always done—I jumped in with both feet.

I signed up.

I bought a set of aero bars for my road bike, read everything I could find, studied training plans, learned the techniques, and committed myself to finishing. My goal wasn't to win. It wasn't even to be fast.

My goal was simply to cross the finish line.

That first Ironman changed me.

Since then I've completed several Ironman races, competed in other triathlons, discovered ultra running, and continued chasing one simple goal:

To become a little better than I was yesterday.

I've never been interested in racing other people as much as I've been interested in competing with myself.

Along the way, I discovered something even more meaningful than the races.

I discovered the endurance community.

No matter where I went, I found people encouraging each other, helping beginners, celebrating victories, and supporting one another through the hard days. It didn't matter if someone was training for their first 5K or their tenth Ironman. Everyone belonged.

But something kept bothering me.

Here in the Yukon and Mustang area, that same community wasn't as easy to find.

If I needed my bike serviced, I was driving 40 minutes just to drop it off, then making another trip to pick it up a few days later. There wasn't a local place where cyclists, runners, and endurance athletes could gather, ask questions, find support, or simply feel like they belonged.

On May 28th, I finally said it out loud:

"Our community needs its own bike shop."

A few days later, my wife—the most supportive person I've ever known and truly the love of my life—went to look at a building with me.

We talked about the dream.

We talked about what our community could become.

And together, we came up with the name Trinity Endurance.

On June 3rd, we signed the lease.

Once again, I did what I've always done.

I jumped in with both feet.

Did I have everything figured out?

Not even close.

But I've learned that sometimes God doesn't call us because we're ready. He calls us because He's ready to use us.

That's what Trinity Endurance is really about.

Yes, we repair bikes.

Yes, we'll sell bikes, running shoes, nutrition, and endurance gear.

But that's not the mission.

The mission is people.

I want Yukon, Mustang, and the west side of Oklahoma City to become one of the strongest endurance communities anywhere.

I want someone training for their very first 5K to feel just as welcome as someone preparing for an Ironman or an ultramarathon.

I want beginners to know they belong.

I want experienced athletes to mentor others.

I want coffee rides, group runs, trail adventures, and community events where people leave stronger than when they arrived.

Every event we host will begin with encouragement.

I want people to pause before they head out, think about who they're becoming, and remember that every mile is about more than fitness. Then, for anyone who wants to join, we'll end that moment with a prayer before we begin the adventure together.

Because I believe we were made for more.

More than comfort.

More than excuses.

More than simply getting through life.

We were created to grow stronger—in our bodies, our minds, our relationships, and our faith. We were called to serve others, to encourage one another, and to become the people God created us to be.

That's why Trinity Endurance exists.

Not just to build better athletes.

But to build a stronger community.

This is only Chapter One.

We're just getting started, and I can't wait to see where this journey leads.

Thank you for being part of it.

Made for More Reflection

Take a moment before you move on.

What's one area of your life where you know you were made for more?

Maybe it's taking the first step toward a healthier lifestyle. Maybe it's signing up for your first race, dusting off the bike in the garage, reconnecting with your faith, or simply encouraging someone who needs it.

Growth doesn't happen all at once. It happens one decision, one mile, one conversation, and one act of faith at a time.

This week's challenge:
Take one step you've been putting off. It doesn't have to be a giant leap—it just has to move you forward.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."Ephesians 2:10
